It is important to interview 2 to 3 agents to handle the sale of your home just as you would any other professional. First find out about their experiences, knowledge and how they will market your home. You can get lots of information on the internet, from family members, friends and neighbors, but it is most important to find a good agent to help you sort out what is pertinent to your situation. They should be familiar with the entire selling process and be eager to educate and assist you with all your questions.
Will they be able to negotiate the best price for your home in it’s present conditions, or make recommendations to increase the value of your home within your budget?
Are they sensitive to and listen to your over 55 needs?
Is the agent professional, dependable and trustworthy?
Do your feel comfortable with the agent?
Do they have the National Association of Realtor qualification of a Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES)?
Ask if they have experience and knowledge of working with the over 55 client? It’s always beneficial to work with a specialist.
Make sure the agent(s) provides market conditions in your neighborhood, weekly and will answer your calls and emails in a timely manner. Finally after you make your decision let the other candidates know ASAP about your decision.
